In 2030 Breda will become the first European city within a park and the first city in the Netherlands to join the family of National Park Cities. Breda ‘City in a park’ will become a biodiverse green metropolis connected to the greenery surrounding the city. This map shows the nature in the city: its parks, gardens, sport fields, natural playgrounds, cemeteries, green roofs, canals, forests and polders. The maps invites you to use the back of the map to discover more about nature in and around Breda and find out about the relevance of urban greenery and biodiversity. This first paper green and blue map of the city was commisionned by the Municipality of Breda and - just like the map of Amsterdam - designed by our partner Urban Good.

The Breda ‘City in a Park’ green and blue map was launched in July 2020. Breda Marketing organised a green pop-up in the city center. Alderman Boaz Adank and Patrick Raats from Staatsbosbeheer were there to open the ‘Buitengenieters’ (‘outdoor enthousiasts’) pop-up and receive the first green & blue map: #natuurinBreda!
